Defining Technology”

The nature of science—not only what science involves, but also how it is understood by students—is a well-established area of research. It shows that the population had a need and a want, so they rose to the challenge of improving and making the world easier to live in. In my opinion, this constitutes more as technology than anything else, so this definition, while vague, does cover a main meaning of technology.

At this time technology was also considered destructive, encouraging consumptive behaviour and therefore restructuring the social world, interfering with human communication, distancing reality and reducing individual involvement with nature and other human beings.

To reach this goal, we will firstly present information technology and its different characteristics, then we will investigate the actual effect of IT by stating some arguments for and then against IT and finally we will make a little summary just to say that, despite some remarkable drawbacks, IT is very necessary because there are many tasks that would be impossible without the use of IT. Air-traffic control, credit cards, space travel and medical research are just some examples.

WHO has developed a reference document to provide an introduction to the concept and programme of health technology assessment (HTA) around the world and to highlight the contribution that HTA can make to informed policy and decision-making, particularly in developing and emerging countries.definition of technology
